Solar Cooking for Home or Camp Ages 8+

Solar cooking is free, clean, simple, and fun. It will save you

time and money and also save the earth’s finite resources. Auburn

author Linda Yaffe will show solar cookers anyone can

make from cardboard and aluminum foil for healthy, stress-free

food preparation. A copy of Yaffe’s book,

is included in the course fee.

The Wild Side of Auburn All Ages

Come learn about the local geology, ecology, human and natural

history of Auburn over the past thousands and millions of

years. The Wild Side includes volcanoes, earthquakes, civil strife,

and wild and scenic rivers. Local experts Joe Medeiros, Eric

Peach, and Roger Groghan will give presentations and lead

discussions on the local geology, the local indigenous people,

local plants and ecology of the foothills, and a slide show “tour”

of the American River Canyons. Classes will be Wednesday night

followed by an optional hike at 9am the following Saturday.

The Healthy Side of Auburn 18+

Please join with Mariscela and several other local alternative

health practitioners in learning about non-traditional approaches

to personal wellness. The burgeoning field of “integrative

medicine” includes: hypnotherapy, herbal healing, eco-psychology,

and yoga. Local experts in these fields will give presentations

and lead discussions.

video/lecture series presented by Dr. Hans Diehl and local health

care providers. Heart screening will be done at the beginning

and end so you can see the progress you made in just 5 weeks.

Natural Care Body Products teaches making chemical-free products

for care of your body. You receive recipes and information

about essential oils, hands-on product making, and demonstrations

of others. Three introductory classes are provided followed

by a seven class series. To sign up for the series you

must have taken at least one introductory class.

Based on the energies of the seven charkas; these classes teach

and enhance the use of herbal and essential oils in the everyday

herbs, and clays, instructors have selected recipes that work

effectively, yet respect your time and budget. The classes are:
